Monday and Tuesday featured the 2015 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament in Ann Harbor, Michigan. In attendance were numerous scouts from collegiate hockey programs, the USHL, and pro leagues such as the NHL.
The NAHL Central Division team was comprised of the top prospects who have not made a college commitment, players from the Bismarck Bobcats, Minot Minotauros, Austin Bruins, Brookings Blizzard, and the Aberdeen Wings. Representing the Wings were forwards #16 Kyle Haak (F-Okemos, MI) and #21 Bjorn Sigurdarson (F-Reykjavik, Iceland). Also a member of team Central was former Wings goaltender Chad Catt. His nomination to the team came before being traded to the Soo Eagles of the NAHL North.
Monday, the NAHL Central had a 4-1 win over the NAHL North. Sigurdarson was a +3 as his line was very effective in scoring. Minot's Johnny Walker had 2 goals and 1 assist in the game. Brookings' Beau Michaud also added a goal and 2 assists and another goal came from Cam Bleck who currently plays for the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the NAHL South division. Some players from that division were put on other squads to even out opportunities.
Tuesday, the NAHL Central had a huge 5-1 win over the NAHL South. Minot's Johnny Walker scored again thanks to an assist from Wings forward #21 Bjorn Sigurdarson. Kyle Haak also gave an assist to a goal for Minot's Christian Mohs. Former Wings goaltender Chad Catt was in net for the game, stopping 19 of 20 shots.
