FAIRBANKS, AK - Hans Gorowsky scored two of Fairbanks' three second period goals in what was an eventual 5-2 Ice Dogs win over the Keystone Ice Miners ON Saurday nigh at Big Dipper Arena. Fairbanks split the weekend and the season series as each side finished the regular season head to head at 2-2-0.
As has been customary recently, neither team scored in the first period, but it took only 1:25 for the Ice Dogs to open the scoring in the 2nd when Gorowksy cashed in a setup from Ethan Somoza and Johnny Mueller. At the 14:16 mark, Matt Jones tied the game, deflecting an Alex Archibald shot behind Fairbnanks goaltender Kevin Aldridge. The tie score lasted only 1:58 as Yannick Vedel restored the Ice Dogs lead at 16:14 from Adam Wilcox and Ryner Gorowsky. Hans would add his 2nd of the period with a powerplay goal just as time expired.
Kelly O'Brien picked up his first goal as an Ice Miner 5:44 into the 3rd to cut the lead back to one goal, with assists to Reed Scahill and Vito Aluia. Once again, Fairbanks had a quick answer as Somoza netted an unassisted tally at 7:19 to make it a 4-2 game. Adam Anderson added on at 14:13 for the fifth and final Ice Dogs goal. Nick Kossoff was the losing goaltender, stopping 34 of 39 shots while Aldridge made 30 stops for the win.
