Wingnuts' Starter, Owner Purchased by Blue Jays

WICHITA, KS- Wichita Wingnuts' starting pitcher and team co-owner Nate Robertson has been purchased by the Toronto Blue Jays' organization.

The veteran left-hander made three starts for the Wingnuts without allowing a run over eight innings of work. Robertson yielded just four hits and one walk while striking out six. The Wichita native pitched for the Chicago Cubs' Triple-A Pacific Coast League affiliate in Iowa earlier this season.

Robertson will report to Triple-A Las Vegas, and is expected to start for the 51s on Monday night versus Fresno.

The Blue Jays become Robertson's sixth Major League organization during a 14-year professional career that includes 57 wins over nine seasons at baseball's highest level.

The Wingnuts have now sold 12 contracts to Major League organizations since their inaugural season in 2008.

The Wingnuts finish their four-game series with the Kansas City T-Bones tonight at 7:05 p.m. All the action can be heard locally on Oldies 92.7 KWME and worldwide at www.kleyam.com Ryan Hinson faces right-hander Josh Rainwater.
