Lemurs' Shut Out Take Two

Laredo, TX - Amarillo Sox (30-25) starting pitcher Chuck Lofgren (3-3) throws a complete game shutout against the Laredo Lemurs (23-30) to earn a 3-0 win at Uni-Trade Stadium on Saturday night.

Lofgren's shutout makes the second day in a row that the Lemurs have been held without a run at the hands of the Amarillo Sox starting pitching. Ryan Mitchell accomplished the task yesterday giving up only two hits.

Lofgren threw nine, giving up five hits, while striking out three. Lofgren pitched four, one, two, three innings on his way to the victory.

The Lemurs offense has been shutout over the last 23 innings, going back to the fourth inning of the second game of the series against the Amarillo Sox.

The Amarillo Sox got on the scoreboard in the second, with four straight hits that created two runs, to put them up 2-0. The Sox would score again with Garrett Rau hitting a solo homerun off Lemurs relief pitcher Edwin Walker to make it 3-0.

With the win the Sox tied the series at two apiece as they head out of town.

Lemurs starting pitcher Tony Butler (0-1) took the loss in his first outing for the team, as he went five, giving up two runs, on five hits, while walking three.

The Lemurs will welcome the Wichita Wingnuts to Uni-Trade Stadium tomorrow night for their first meeting of the season. The Lemurs are home through July 17th .
