Windy City Bulls Storm Past Blue Coats

The Windy City Bulls, presented by BMO, the NBA G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, dominated the Delaware Blue Coats to the tune of a 123-85 victory Sunday night at NOW Arena. Daniel Oturu, Scottie Lindsey and Ethan Thompson combined to score 65 points for the Bulls.

Windy City's 38-point margin of victory was tied for the second-largest in team history, coming up just short of the Bulls' 43-point win over the Canton Charge Feb. 2, 2019.

With the help of 11 first-quarter points from rookie guard Ethan Thompson, the Bulls came out of the gates on fire to lead 40-28 after the opening 12 minutes. Windy City maintained its momentum in the second quarter to take a 67-48 lead into halftime. Oturu led the Bulls with 15 first-half points.

Coming out of the break, Lindsey knocked down three three-pointers as the Bulls opened the third quarter on an 19-2 run to take a 36-point lead.

Windy City's lead ballooned to 49 points with 5:32 left in the fourth quarter, but the Blue Coats were able to end the game on a 16-5 run to make it a 38-point victory for the Bulls.

Lindsey scored 22 points in just 23 minutes of action, shooting 5-for-8 from beyond the arc. Oturu also put up 22 points on 10-for-12 shooting from the field in 24 minutes. Thompson finished with 21 points, five rebounds and seven assists.

Kerwin Roach II scored 15 points and dished out five assists in his first start of the season. Tim Bond was the fifth Windy City player in double figures, coming off the bench to put up 13 points and six assists.

For Delaware, Shamorie Ponds scored 25 points to lead all scorers. Jared Brownridge finished with 17 points, nine rebounds and six assists for the Blue Coats.

With the win, the Bulls improve to 1-1 in the regular season portion of the schedule. Meanwhile, the loss puts Delaware at 0-2 in the regular season after the Blue Coats won this year's NBA G League Showcase Cup with an 11-1 record.

Next, the Bulls are scheduled to play the Cleveland Charge Jan. 11 on the road. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. CT and the game will be broadcast on NBAGLeague.com.
