
Wind Surge Win Fifth Straight

LITTLE ROCK, AR - In a series where only two home runs had been hit in the previous five games, the Wind Surge hit three home runs in game six and extended their win streak to five games when they defeated the Travelers by a score of 6-5. The Wind Surge also secured their fourth straight series win, this time by a count of five games to one.
The Wind Surge took an early lead after scoring in both the first and second innings. Patrick Winkel and Aaron Sabato both hit their ninth home runs of the season, and both home runs were solo home runs over the right field wall.
Wichita extended their lead in the top of the third inning. Tanner Schobel hit an RBI triple on a fly ball to right center field.
Yoyner Fajardo also got a home run in the ball game. In the top of the fifth inning, he hit a two-run home run over the center field wall and the Surge had scored five unanswered runs.
The Travelers got their first run, after 22 consecutive innings without a run, in the bottom of the sixth. Josh Morgan grounded out to first base and a base runner was able to reach home from third.
Arkansas kept chipping away at the Surge lead in the bottom of the seventh. Spencer Packard grounded out and a runner was able to cross the plate. Wichita's lead had been cut to three.
Wichita put up an insurance run in the top of the ninth off a double steal. Alerick Soularie stole home when Will Holland beat the pickoff attempt of him stealing second base.
The Travelers hit their first home run of the series in the bottom of the ninth. The three-run shot was hit over the center field wall by Robert Perez Jr. and Arkansas cut the Surge lead to just one run.
Travis Adams made his team leading 21st start of the season on the mound for the Wichita Wind Surge. He pitched five innings where he gave up only one run off five hits. He struck out four batters and walked two more. He earned the win, and his record improves to (4-9).
Arkansas starting pitcher Shawn Semple pitched six innings and gave up five runs off eight hits including three home runs. He struck out five batters and walked one. He was credited with the loss and his record falls to (3-6).
The Wichita Wind Surge have won 12 of their last 14 games and improve to (29-22, 57-62) and the Arkansas Travelers fall to (19-31, 64-55).
NOTES: The Minnesota Twins named David Festa Minor League pitcher of the week. The Wind Surge improve to a league best 18-6 in the month of August.
