Charleston Dirty Birds News Release
CHARLESTON, W. Va. - The West Virginia Power is excited to announce that Dan Wilson, the Seattle Mariners' Special Assistant for Player Development, will make an appearance at Appalachian Power Park on Saturday, June 29, as a part of Wheelers Weekend. Wilson will sign autographs from 4:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. as a part of the promotion.
Tickets for Saturday's game are on sale now for as low as $6.00, and can be purchased online at wvpower.com or by calling the Power Box Office at 304-344-2287.
Gates will open at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, and the first 1,000 fans will receive a Dan Wilson Wheelers replica jersey, courtesy of IHOP. Wilson will be signing autographs from 4:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., at which point the line will be cut off due to Wilson's coordinator responsibilities for the Mariners.
Wilson, a former first round pick in 1990 by the Cincinnati Reds, began his Minor League career in Charleston, W. Va., with the Wheelers. He played just 32 games in his first year, averaging .248 with two homers and 17 RBI as a part of the Wheelers' 1990 South Atlantic League Championship squad. The Barrington, Illinois, native spent 52 more games in The Capital City in 1991 before elevating to Double-A Chattanooga for his final 81 games in the Minor Leagues. Wilson made his big league debut September 7, 1992, for the Reds and enjoyed a 14-year Major League career with the Reds and Mariners, which included a 1996 American League All-Star nod with Seattle.
The Power will don their throwback Wheelers uniforms Saturday as well, and all of the jerseys will be auctioned off on the Live Source app, which is available for download via the App Store and Google Play.
