Carolina Mudcats News Release

ZEBULON, NC - The Carolina Mudcats came rolling into their series with the Frederick Keys on a four-game winning streak, but Tyler Wilson threw a wrench into the machine. Wilson (3-3) tossed a seven-inning three hitter in a 5-0 defeat of the Mudcats.

Carolina (3-1, 35-39) failed to score a run for the seventh time this year. The Keys (2-2, 29-45) have won two in a row after losing eight straight.

Will Roberts (3-4) took a tough loss for the Mudcats, allowing four runs on seven hits over six innings. Both starting pitchers were very efficient, needing only 40 pitches apiece to make it through four innings.

Frederick used great execution to manufacture their first run in the fifth. Following a single from Michael Flacco, Joe Oliveira reached on a bunt single. A sacrifice from Johnny Ruettiger moved the runners into scoring position. Flacco scored on a ground ball to short by Garabez Rosa.

Aaron Baker put the game firmly in the Keys' hands with a three-run homer in the sixth off Roberts. The blast gave Frederick a 4-0 lead. It was his 14th homer of the season, and fourth in five games.

The Keys brought home the final run on a double by Rosa in the ninth inning.

Carolina continues the series with Frederick on Monday, June 25 at 7:15 p.m. First pitch is set for 4:00 p.m. Tickets are available through the box office by calling (919) 269-2287 or visiting carolinamudcats.com.
