
Wilson Blanks Wings; Cats Win Series

HARLINGEN, Texas- Starting pitcher Tyler Wilson (1-0) scattered five hits while tossing a shut out through six innings of work leading the Fort Worth Cats (23-13) to a 6-2 win over the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings (16-18) Saturday night at Harlingen field.
Ryan Miller led off the inning with a hit by pitch, with one out in the inning Chris Ellison hit safely into right field where Andrew Deeds allowed the ground ball to get behind him scoring Miller on the error giving the Cats a 1-0 lead.
In the top of the fifth inning the Cats tallied up three consecutive base hits from Ellsion, Aljay David and Shelby Ford.
Ellison would score on a Ford RBI Single making it 2-0 Cats. Fort Worth continued their big inning adding a pair of runs extending their lead 4-0.
David Bergin scored Davis and Ford on a RBI double. Bergin later scored on a RBI single from Chris Chistopoulos extending the lead 5-0.
In the bottom of the eighth Albert Carpen led off the inning with an infield single, Roberto Ramirez advanced Carpen on a base hit single of his own.
This set the stage for Kevin Lusson who lopped in a shallow fly ball into left field scorning both Carpen and Ramirez cutting the lead to 5-2.
The Cats would hold on from there adding one more run in the ninth on a sacrifice fly scoring Monger from third making it 6-2.
Fort Worth went on to win the series three games to one. The Wings head for San Angelo (20-16) for a four game set, with a double header on Tuesday, July 2nd. RGV will send ERA leader Brett Kennedy to the mound. First pitch is 6:05 p.m.
