Wilmington Sea Dawgs News Release

Before playing professional basketball, Kevin Whitted set records as a high school basketball star at E.A Laney High School. He topped Michael Jordan's all-time leading scorer record which still stands.

Now, as the Head Coach of the newly formed Wilmington Sea Dawgs, he is ready to go back to the gym where it all began.

Although previously scheduled at a different venue, The Wilmington Sea Dawgs is pleased to announce the second round of two-day Free Agent Tryouts scheduled for Saturday, September 16th and 17th at E. A. Laney High School.

"The move back to Wilmington has given me a chance to renew my friendship with Coach Fred Lynch." says Head Coach Kevin Whitted. "When it was suggested that we hold tryouts at the Laney gym, I couldn't have been any happier. I am excited to go back to 'my home court' as a coach."

Interested players may arrive at the gym as early as 8:30 a.m.; with tryouts running from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday and 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. Candidates must be 18 years of age with a high school degree or equivalent. Players should wear appropriate shoes and clothing and come ready to compete.

All registration fees are non-refundable and payable by check or cash. Please be advised that participation in the open tryouts may jeopardize a player's NCAA eligibility. If you have any question about NCAA eligibility, please consult with your current basketball coach.
