
Atlanta Vision and Suwanee Sports Academy Partner in Gwinnett

ATLANTA, GA - August 17, 2006 - Atlanta Vision, official members of the American Basketball Association, announce Suwanee Sports Academy as their new headquarters and home venue for the 2006-2007 season which tips off in November. Suwanee Sports Academy is the home of the On Court Player Development which is the first and only basketball and volleyball development program in the country that provides players all the resources they need to excel at the game all in one place.
"Suwanee Sports Academy is the best place to showcase local developing talent and the exhilaration of ABA basketball," explained Gwinnett County resident and Vision owner Akilah Townsend. This partnership provides a place for basketball fans around Atlanta to experience professional basketball, special offers from corporate sponsors, community fundraisers, youth programs, performances from local groups, internships, contest prizes, and access to Vision players and dance team members, right in their own backyard."
"Our fans not only see the Vision, they become a part of the Vision," added Quentin Townsend, Vision owner. "We are excited about the economic impact and positive influence the Atlanta Vision will have in our schools, communities, and with our visiting tourist." Fans can meet their new Gwinnett Professional Basketball Team during the Media Day and Open House scheduled in November. The Atlanta Vision will defend their 2005-2006 ABA Divisional Championship competing in a regular season schedule which includes 18 home games. Season Ticket Packages go on sale Monday August 28, 2006.
Georgia Tech Hall of Famer and NBA veteran Dennis Scott is the General Manager for the Atlanta Vision. "Making the business decision to move the team to Gwinnett at Suwanee Sports Academy further supports our mission of developing players on and off the court while placing them in the most productive environment to achieve their goal," stated Scott. The Atlanta Vision Professional Basketball Tryout Camp will be held on October 7th and October 8th along with a dance clinic on Sunday October 8th at the Suwanee Sports Academy. The Suwanee Sports Academy, located just outside Atlanta, is the largest privately owned facility in the country for basketball and volleyball training and competitive events. The facility is 100,000 square feet and includes 7 NBA regulation basketball courts, 11 volleyball courts, and an intimate seating capacity of 5000. Offerings include a variety of training programs, leagues, tournaments and camps.
