Willmar Stingers News Release
WILLMAR, Minn. - Willmar scored two runs in the seventh inning and one in the eighth to make it a one-run contest against Mankato entering the final frame, but that was as close as the Stingers would get as they fell to the MoonDogs, 5-4, at Bill Taunton Stadium at Baker Field Wednesday night.
Sean Dwyer (Florida Gulf Coast) was a part of three of the four Stingers runs, finishing the game 2-for-5 with 2 RBIs and a run scored. Mankato scored only two earned runs, as Willmar committed five errors defensively.
Willmar will now play two games at Thunder Bay before returning to Willmar for two home games against Duluth. Both Thursday and Friday's game will be played at 6:05 p.m.
Saturday's home game will mark American Cancer Society Night presented by Duininck Inc. Pink bats used by the players will be auctioned off for the local American Cancer Society chapter. The first 250 fans will receive a pink wristband. First pitch will be at 7:05 p.m.
