Inland Empire 66ers News Release

Lancaster, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino got two runs in the first inning on Kevin Williams Jr.'s two-run homer and walked a tight-rope on the mound in the early going to down the Lancaster JetHawks 7-1 at The Hangar on Tuesday. The win ended a 3-game losing-skid for the 66ers (6-7) and snapped a six-game win-streak for the JetHawks. Kyle Bradish earned his first professional win for Inland Empire, but it started of dicey.

After Williams Jr. gave the Sixers the early lead off Lancaster (6-7) starter Garrett Schilling (1-1), Bradish walked a Carlos Herrera with one out in the bottom of the first. Herrera was caught stealing however. With two down, Bradish walked three straight batters, the first of whom came home on a passed ball for an unearned run and 2-1 game before the New Mexico State product got out of it. Bradish (1-1) gave up three straight singles to open the second but got a 1-2-3 double play off the bat of Matt Hearn and then struck out Herrera to end it. It started a stretch of ten consecutive retired by Bradish. In the seventh David MacKinnon's sac fly made it 3-1 Sixers and Wiliams followed with a two-run triple to right and a 5-1 lead. The hit snapped an 0-for-28 with runners in scoring position for Inland Empire. Leonardo Rivas tacked on a two-run single in the eighth to give IE the 7-1 advantage. Alvaro Rubalcaba finished 3-for-3 with a double and a walk for the Sixers. Brett Hanewich and Jorge Tavarez each tossed two scoreless frames behind Bradish's five innings.

The series concludes Wednesday at 6:35 pm. The contest can be heard live at 66ers.com.
