(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Knighthawks forward Shawn Williams was named the National Lacrosse League's Overall Player of the Week today after recording 15 points (5+10) in two wins last week. With the victories, the Knighthawks (7+7) moved into a three-way tie for third place in the East Division.

"Getting recognized is always a special feeling," said the 35 year old. "The most important thing was being part of two 'must wins' and being able to help out."

Williams began the two-game in two-night stretch with two goals and three assists in a 12-11 win at Minnesota on April 9th. The win snapped the team's four-game losing streak. The following evening, he notched a season-high 10 points (3+7) in a come-from-behind victory over the Philadelphia Wings. He had six points in the K-Hawks' 10-goal second half to lead Rochester to victory over the Wings.

"The game had a different feeling and a different energy," said Williams. "We kept plugging away. The defense played well and 'Boldy' played well when he came in. The offense didn't get away from the game plan like it does sometimes. It worked for us."

The 13-year pro is second on the Knighthawks with 65 points (23+42) in 14 games. This season, he also has a team-high 14-game assist and point streak. In his Rochester career, the Scarborough, Ontario, native is second in goals (286), assists (434) and points (720).

The Knighthawks hit the road for the first of two straight road games to end the 2010 regular season. The K-Hawks face the Toronto Rock on Friday, April 16th at 7:30 p.m. at the Air Canada Centre. The game will be broadcast live on The Zone 94.1 FM and thezone941.com.

Rochester can clinch a playoff spot with a win over Toronto or a Boston loss to Colorado and a Buffalo loss to Orlando. The Knighthawks can even secure a second-place finish, and a home playoff game, with a win and a loss by Boston and Buffalo.
