Published on April 14, 2010 under National Lacrosse League (NLL) News Release

Rochester Knighthawks forward Shawn Williams was named the National Lacrosse League's Overall Player of the Week for Week #14 of the 2010 NLL Season. Williams scored a total of 15 points in a two-game weekend sweep for the Knighthawks, that consisted of wins over the Minnesota Swarm and Philadelphia Wings. The wins ended a four-game losing streak, and moved from the Knighthawks from 5-7 and on the outside looking in, to 7-7, and right back into the heart of the playoff chase in the Eastern Division. The Knighthawks now have a chance to clinch a playoff berth this weekend, thanks in part to the big weekend turned in by the 13-year league veteran.

On Friday, April 9 at Minnesota, Williams scored two goals and added three assists in a 12-11 Knighthawks win. On Saturday, Williams had a ten point night, three goals and seven assists, in a 15-12 comeback win over Philadelphia. The Week #14 NLL schedule consisted of games played on the weekend of April 9-10.

Washington Stealth Forward Rhys Duch was named Offensive Player of the Week. Duch and the Stealth went into East-leading Orlando in a showdown of first place teams. Duch scored nine points on three goals and six assists. The Stealth turned the game into a blowout, winning 17-7 over the Titans.

Washington Stealth Goaltender Matt Roik was named Defensive Player of the Week. Roik held the Titans offense to only seven goals; he stopped 34 of 41 Orlando shots on goal. Roik was at his best in the first and fourth quarter where he allowed only one goal in each, as the Stealth won 17-7 in a battle of first place teams.

The Transition Player of the Week was Jed Prossner of the Colorado Mammoth. Prossner scored four goals, an assist and picked up five loose balls in a12-11 loss to Calgary on Saturday. Prossner did not play in the Friday's game against Edmonton.

Chris Corbeil, rookie defenseman of the Buffalo Bandits, won the Rookie of the Week. Corbeil scored both a goal and an assist and picked up ten loose balls in 13-10 win against the Toronto Rock. The win was important for Buffalo, who improved to 7-7 and kept pace with the teams that are chasing the final three playoff spots in the Eastern Division. Corbeil and the other four winners were all first time winners in 2010.

The NLL Weekly Player Awards are determined each week by a vote of the General Managers & Head Coaches of the league's eleven member clubs.
