Washington Stealth News Release
Everett, Wash. - The National Lacrosse League announced today the winners of its weekly awards. Two Washington Stealth players, forward Rhys Duch and goaltender Matt Roik, were rewarded for their performances in the 17-7 victory over the Orlando Titans on April 10th.
Duch posted a season-high nine points last week against the Titans to earn the Offensive Player of the Week. He finished with three goals and six assists to lead all scorers. Duch, who is the reigning NLL Rookie of the Year, has seen no sign of a sophomore slump. He is currently second on the Stealth and 13th in the NLL with 70 points in 14 games played. His 45 assists rank him sixth in the league in that category.
Roik was named Defensive Player of the Week after another stellar performance between the pipes last weekend, holding the East Division's top team to just seven goals. The Stealth goaltender made 34 saves in the contest to improve his record to a league-best 6-0. Roik is ranked sixth in the league in both goals against average (9.93) and save percentage (.782). His 9.93 goals against average is a career best for the nine-year NLL vet.
Duch, Roik and the rest of the Stealth return home on April 17th to take on the Edmonton Rush. With a win this weekend, the Stealth will clinch their second West Division regular season title in three years and lock up the NLL's top seed throughout the playoffs. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30pm PST. Tickets start at just $13 and are available by calling 877-MY-75-TIX or at www.stealthlax.com.
