Stealth Win West, Advance to Third NLL Championship Game

CALGARY, Alberta - The Washington Stealth scored early and never looked back as it earned its third trip to the NLL Championship Game in four years with a 14-13 NLL West Division Championship win over the Calgary Roughnecks, Saturday before 9.583 at the Scotiabank Sadddledome in Calgary, Alberta.

After taking an 8-5 half-time lead on three straight goals by Rhys Duch, Brett Bucktooth and Athan Iannucci, the Stealth withstood a dogged Roughnecks attack in the second half to hang on for the win.

Calgary's second-half attack on the Stealth was led by six Curtis Dickson goals in the third and fourth quarters that forced three ties through the 7:55 mark of the final quarter of play.

Duch scored the eventual game winner with just 6:54 to go. It was the NLL regular-season goals champion's third of the night.

Eight different players scored for Washington with Duch and Iannucci leading the way, each with three goals and four assists for seven points. Tyler Richards faced 52 shots to hold back the Roughnecks.

Calgary was led by Dickson with seven goals and an assist for eight points. Roughneck's goaltender Mike Poulin faced 43 Stealth shots.

Out-dueled by his brother Geoff Snider, the Stealth's Bob Snider won just six of 31 faceoffs on the day.

With the win, the Stealth will take on the defending NLL Champion Rochester Knighthawks, Saturday, May 11 at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, British Columbia in the 2013 NLL Championship Game Presented by Reebok. The NLL Championship Game gets underway at 4 p.m. PDT (7 p.m. EDT) and is televised live on the CBS Sports Network.
