MONCTON N.B. - The Moncton Wildcats have traded defenceman Jaxon Bellamy to the Sherbrooke Phoenix in exchange for a 1st round pick in 2018, and a 2nd round pick in the 2019 QMJHL entry draft.
A first round pick from this summer's draft, the 16-year-old from Hampton NB, has played in the Wildcats lineup for 24 games this season, recording two goals and one assist.
"First of all we would like to thank Jaxon for the short time he was with us here in Moncton" said Director of Hockey Operations, Roger Shannon. "As the first half of the season came to a close, it became apparent that Jaxon wanted to play more and have a more prominent role with the team. After meeting, he requested if we could find him a better fit, that we would consider moving him. We're happy to get a good return, and wish Jaxon all the best in his future."
The Wildcats return to action on home ice Saturday against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan at 7:00 p.m. for tickets call 857-4100 or go online at tickets.moncton.ca
