
Wildcats Top Defending Champs

South Georgia Wildcats News Release
The defending af2 champion Tennessee Valley Vipers committed 4 turnovers Saturday night in Albany, Ga. and that was too much to overcome as they fell to the South Georgia Wildcats 55-33 in a battle for first place in the American Conference South Division.
South Georgia QB Darnell Kennedy struggled in the first quarter going 3-10 and only passing for 22 yards but found his rhythm in the final three quarters going 16-24 for 223 yards, throwing for 3 touchdowns and rushing for three touchdowns. Kevin Eakin for Tennessee Valley finished the night 21-33 for 216 yards and 3 touchdowns but threw 2 interceptions, the first a 1st quarter pick from Wildcats defensive back Takashi Walker that was returned 25 yards for a touchdown.
Vipers wideout Bradley Chavez led all receivers with 11 receptions for 127 yards and 2 touchdowns while Clenton Rafe paced the Wildcats with 5 receptions for 67 yards and 1 touchdown.
With the win the South Georgia Wildcats improve to 3-1 in 2009 as they head on the road next Saturday night at 10:00pmEST against Tri-Cities. Tennessee Valley falls to 1-2 with the loss and will play on the road next Saturday at 8:00pmEST versus the Arkansas Twisters.
