Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz News Release

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz (3-0) tied for the best start in franchise history with a 76 - 38 win over the Central Valley Coyotes (1-2) Saturday night. The game featured two of the greatest wide receivers in af2 history, Oklahoma City's Al Hunt and Central Valley's George Williams. Coming into tonight's matchup, Williams was the af2 all-time leader in touchdowns and scoring (non-kicking). Hunt was second all-time in TD's (180) and third in scoring (1,096).

Central Valley started the game with a 10 yard touchdown catch from all-time af2 leading scorer George Williams. The Yard Dawgz were quick to answer as Al Hunt caught a touchdown of his own, a 17 yard pass from QB Robert Kent to take a 7-6 lead. On the next drive, Coyotes QB Jason Murrietta threw an interception to Yard Dawgz DB Fred Shaw, setting up Oklahoma City's second score of the quarter. With a 21 yard TD grab from WR Chris Maddox, the Dawgz extended their lead 15-6 to end the first.

The second quarter was a back and forth battle by the two teams. After Hunt and Williams traded scores one more time, WR LaMonte Jones scored his first TD to close the Oklahoma City lead to three. Hunt added his third TD of the night to make it a 29-19 Yard Dawgz lead. The Coyotes tried to end the half with the last TD, scoring with under :15 sec left, but Dawgz wide-out Agim Shabaj returned the ensuing kickoff 40 yards to set up a Freddie Rollins 9 yard TD grab with two seconds left to take a 35-25 lead into the half.

The Coyotes scored the first TD of the second half on a Donyell Booker fumble return for a touchdown. The touchdown would be the last time Central Valley would score until 5:57 left in the final quarter. Oklahoma City would go on a 41-6 run over the final two quarters. Yard Dawgz WR Agim Shabaj scored two straight TDs, the second a diving catch in the back of the end zone. The Yard Dawgz successfully attempted an onside kick, recovered by the Aaron's Defensive Player of the Game, Fred Shaw. The Dawgz drove the ball down the field and finished with a 7 yard run by QB Robert Kent to end the third with a 54-32 lead.

The final quarter was no different than the third, as Oklahoma City continued to pull away in the 76-38 victory. On the Coyotes first possession, Yard Dawgz DE Aaron Chavers recovered a fumble to set up Hunt's fourth score of the night. Hunt would finish the game with 6 catches on 87 yards and 4 total TD's. Oklahoma City has a week off before facing the Amarillo Dusters in the third of four straight home games.
