Moncton - The 14th annual Moncton Wildcats Skills Competition hosted by the Petitcodiac Arena attracted an estimated crowd of 1000 youth and adults with many wearing their colorful Petitcodiac minor hockey jerseys.

The evening started off with tours of the Wildcats team bus hosted by the booster club then it was on to the ice surface where hundreds of area youth took the opportunity to skate with the entire Wildcats team.

Honorary Captains for the event, long time community volunteers Stu Lutz (team red) and Gordon Crossman (team white) then prepared the Wildcats for team competitions that included; fastest skaters; hardest shooter; rapid fire, shooting accuracy and a break away relay.

When the final stats were calculated, Team White defeated Team Red by a narrow margin. Skills highlights included Scott Brannon (fastest skater) Marek Hrivik (quickest shooter) Brandon Gormley (hardest shot) and a tie for shooting accuracy between Alex Macdonald and Alex Saulnier. Following the event the Wildcats players were treated to a wonderful display of community hospitality and lunch made possible by many volunteers of the Petitcodiac community.

The Wildcats return to action at the Moncton Coliseum on Sunday February 28, hosting the Halifax Mooseheads with a special 2pm starting time. Tickets available by calling 506-857-4100 or www.moncton-wildcats.com.
