Moncton Wildcats News Release
MONCTON N.B. - The Moncton Wildcats have signed free agent G Blackmore from the Pictou County Weeks Major Midget.
The 17-year-old from Millbrook Nova Scotia is in his second season with Pictou and was named Captain this year; prior to that he played two years with the Truro Bearcats. This season G has appeared in 28 games, registering 30 assists, and 19 goals. He leads the league in points with 49, is tied for the lead in assists, and holds the lead for penalty minutes with 104. Last season G also put up some impressive numbers with 31 points in 38 games.
"G is a smart, skilled forward that has had a tremendous year so far in midget, leading the league in points at this time. He's a very competitive player, and plays a gritty, physical style of game in which we value with the Wildcats. His sense of the game is fantastic, which is clearly demonstrated by his strong play making abilities. His speed and his quickness are two attributes that should translate into him finding success at the Junior level. As Captain of his team, we're always happy to welcome committed leaders into our organization. G loves the game, and he is loved by his coaches and teammates, so we are excited to bring him into our system and see what the future holds," said Assistant Coach, Erin King.
It is expected that G will join the lineup on Friday for the Wildcats game in Halifax.
