Washington Wild Things News Release
WASHINGTON, Pa - The Wild Things successfully won the series against the Florence Y'alls, taking game three of the series by a final score at 10-5.
Ryan Hennen got the win on the mound to move to 4-0 after pitching six innings, allowing two earned on five hits. His ERA for the season now sits at 0.90. As a team, Washington had 15 hits on the night.
The Wild Things got on the board in the first inning when Grant Heyman hit a double, which brought in Gabe Howell and Andrew Sohn. The Florence Y'alls scored in the second inning, bringing the game to 2-1.
In the third inning, the Wild Things scored four runs thanks to multiple home runs. With Nick Ward and Sohn on the bases, Bralin Jackson hit a three-run home run to dead center to push the Washington advantage to 5-1. Right after Jackson's home run, Andrew Czech stepped up to the plate and hit a home run of his own over the right-field fence. By the end of the inning, the Wild Things led 6-1.
Throughout the sixth and seventh inning, the Y'alls gave the Wild Things some competition when Luis Pintor and Andre Mercurio both had home runs for the team to cut the Washington lead to 7-5.
However, the Wild Things responded right back in the seventh and eighth innings, plating three more runs over the two frames. Heyman got an RBI when he hit a double, scoring Ward. Sohn scored again after Jackson drove him in on an RBI-groundout, his fourth RBI of the game. The final run was scored when Campagna hit a solo home run off the left-field foul pole, bringing the final score to 10-5.
The next home game will be on July 6 against the New Jersey Jackals. Fans can purchase tickets at wildthingstickets.com. For now, the Wild Things head on a nine-game road trip, with a three-game series against the Tri-City Valleycats getting underway at 7:00 p.m. Friday.
