Wild Things Shut out Crushers to Salvage Game

WASHINGTON, Pa. - For the fifth time this season, the Wild Things' pitching staff shutout its opponent, as the team salvaged a game in the series at Lake Erie, by winning 5-0. With his six shutout innings, Nick Gallagher earned his first pro win.

The Wild Things started the scoring and finished it. Blake Adams' seventh homer made it 1-0 Washington in the fifth. The Wild Things then plated three in the sixth. Ryan Cox doubled home a pair and then scored on a single by Adams. Alex Murphy's first Wild Things' homer in the eighth made it 5-0, the game's final.

Nick Gallagher tossed six shutout innings before BJ Sabol, Jesus Balaguer and Zach Strecker combined to finish the contest, as Gallagher picked up the win in his second start. Adams had four hits, a personal season high, and two RBI. Cody Erickson and Murphy chipped in two hits apiece.

Washington is now set for a six-game homestand, with three against the River City Rascals and three against Schaumburg. The series with the Rascals begins Tuesday at Wild Things Park, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
