Wild Things Pitcher Scott Dunn Announces Frontier League Retirement
May 5, 2015 - Frontier League (FL)
Washington Wild Things News Release
Washington, PA- After five seasons in the Frontier League, Washington Wild Things pitcher Scott Dunn has announced his retirement. The veteran, who worked 445 innings, leaves the independent ranks with a 38-15 record and a career 2.83 ERA in 130 games (53 starts).
The native of Hanover Township and a graduate of Southside Beaver was acquired by the Wild Things in an offseason trade last season that sent former Wild Things third baseman Jovan Rosa to Traverse City in exchange for Dunn. In 2014, Dunn was a member of the Wild Things starting rotation and compiled an 8-5 record and a 3.28 ERA in 107 innings.
Prior to his time in Washington, Dunn spent four seasons with the Beach Bums. Dunn was an outstanding pitcher in the league and was recognized for it. His 15-1 record and 2.61 ERA in 2013 earned him the starting nod in the 2013 Frontier League All-Star Game at CONSOL Energy Park. Dunn was a former second round pick in the 2010 Frontier League Draft. As a rookie, he became the first pitcher in league history to begin a season 10-0.
In other moves made by the organization, the Wild Things released pitcher Willie Ethington, infielder Tyler Peterson and outfielder Casey Roche.
The Wild Things open the 2015 season against the Frontier League reigning champions, the Schaumburg Boomers, on Friday, May 15 at 7:05 p.m. For season tickets, individual game tickets, group outings and/or marketing opportunities, call the CONSOL Energy Park Front Office at 724-250-9555.
