Wild Things grab game two
Pat O'Brien hit a three-run homer in the third inning helping the Washington Wild Things to an 8-6 win over the Evansville Otters
The Otters got on the board in the top of the first inning. Evansville got their first four men on, capped off by a bases loaded single by Jud Kindle. Steve Martin then hit a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0 Evansville. The Wild Things came back on a solo homer by Matt Swope in the bottom of the first to make it 2-1.
The two teams traded runs in the second inning. With the Otters leading 3-2 in the bottom of the third, Andre Simpson got the first two outs of the inning. With Chris Carter at the plate, Simpson got a ground ball, but it rolled up the arm of Denver Stuckey for an error. Mike Arbinger followed with a single. O'Brien then hit his fourth homer of the season to make it 5-3 Washington.
The Otters got a run back in the top of the fourth on when Rickey Clinton doubled home Trask Munoz, but the Wild Things, who scored in every inning but the fifth and the eighth, came back with a run in the bottom of the fourth to make it 6-4.
Evansville would tie the game with a pair of runs in the fifth. Jud Kindle hit his second homer of the season to make it 6-5. Steve Martin was then hit by a pitch and stole second. He moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly by Trask Munoz to tie the game at 6-6.
The Wild Things took the lead for good in the bottom of the inning when Matt Swope singled home Andy Hudak to make it 7-6. Washington scored an insurance run in the seventh to mark the final margin of victory.
Anthony Del Prete (0-2) took the loss in relief for the Otters. Corey Ohalek (3-3) won it for Washington.
The series wraps up tomorrow with Chris Pillsbury (4-2) getting the Day start for Evansville. Brian Burks (4-1) will start for the Wild Things. Game time is 6:05 p.m. CST
