Rockford RiverHawks News Release

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Monday's game between the RiverHawks and Kings was suspended in the bottom of the fifth inning because of rain.

The score was 2-2 with Kalamazoo batting and runners on first and third with nobody out when play was stopped. The game will pick up where it left off at 4:30 p.m. CDT on Tuesday as part of a doubleheader.

The suspended game will be played out to nine innings whereas game two is scheduled for just seven innings. Game two will begin approximately 20 minutes after the conclusion of the suspended game.

Rockford scored two runs in the fourth on three straight hits: a double by Ryan Larson, an RBI double by Mike Lynch, and a run-scoring single by Todd Dulaney.

Jason Sullivan led off the fifth with a double and came home on an error by Larson to tie the score on the last play before the game was halted.

Though the game is not yet official until it is completed, Aaron McEachran singled in the second inning, extending his hitting-streak to a career-high 18 games, one game short of the team record set by Ben Fjelland in 2002.

Both starters, Rockford's John Richards and Kalamazoo's Jon Gutierrez, are no longer in the game, but both runners on base when play was stopped belong to Richards.

The start of the game was delayed nearly three hours because of a severe thunderstorm.

The ‘Hawks are back at Marinelli Field at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday to begin the final homestand at Marinelli Field. They'll move into their new stadium after the all-star break.

The RiverHawks are the defending champions of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 13th season. All games are broadcasted live on WRHL-FM, 102.3 - the Hub.
