Richmond Roosters News Release

Evansville, Indiana - The Roosters offense came to life in a 9-2 win over the Chillicothe Paints on Sunday. Between early errors, a late high scoring inning, and solid pitching, the Paints couldn't keep up with the Roosters. The second largest crowd of the season, 2146, watched Richmond pick up the win at McBride Stadium.

The Roosters got things started quickly by scoring three runs in the first inning to jump out to an early lead. Josh Hollingsworth hit a 2 RBI single to right-center field scoring Kevin White and Mike Reese after both got on base through fielding errors. Ty Herriott added a RBI single to score Hollingsworth and give Richmond a 3-0 lead before the Paints could even get an at-bat. The first two batted balls of the game were misplayed by Paints infielders, allowing White and Reese to get on bat. Chillicothe committed four errors on the night.

Chillicothe managed to get a couple of runs in the top of the fourth with a RBI sacrifice fly from Beau Blacken and a run-scoring double from John Ramistella. Richmond got those runs back in the bottom of the inning with a two RBI single from Kevin White remain three runs up at 5-2.

The Roosters tacked on a big inning in the sixth to drive the lead up to seven runs. Ty Herriott, Joe Rhomberg, Kevin White and Mike Reese all scored in the inning off three hits including a two RBI double by Hollingsworth. Richmond took a 9-2 lead and would eventually take the game, holding Chillicothe scoreless over the last five innings.

Tony Casoli (6-1) won for Richmond giving up only one earned run over seven innings. Casoli has now won six consecutive starts. Perry Cunningham (4-1) was hung with the loss. Josh Hollingsworth led the way for Richmond going 3-for-4 with four RBI.

Richmond (17-20) has two more games remaining against the Paints (18-19). Matt Huskey (0-1, 14.54 ERA) will start Monday night for Richmond and will oppose Justin Munoz (0-1, 6.52 ERA). Game time is set for 6:35pm (Indiana time). The Roosters will begin a three-game series at the Windy City Thunderbolts on Wednesday.
