
Wild Things Fall to Traverse City 3-1

Traverse City, MI - The Washington Wild Things fell to the Traverse City Beach Bums in the final game of a three game series by a final score of 3-1. Wild Things pitcher Chase Cunningham allowed two runs and struck out four in the loss. Sasha Kuebel secured the win for the Beach Bums, allowing eight hits and striking out five in six innings pitched.
The Wild Things took an early lead in the top of the 1st inning. A pair of singles from Jamal Austin and Bryan Haar set up a David Popkins sac fly, giving Washington the early 1-0 lead. The Beach Bums struck back in the bottom of the 4th on an RBI double by Jose Vargas that brought home Casey Rodrigue, tying the game at 1-1.
The game remained tied in a pitchers duel until the Beach Bums capitalized with a Kendall Patrick solo home run in the bottom of the 7th, giving Traverse City the 2-1 go ahead lead. The Beach Bums added some insurance in the bottom of the 8th on a wild pitch to Steven Patterson that brought home Will Kengor, extending the led to 3-1.
The Washington Wild Things continue their road trip Friday night as they begin a three game series with Schaumburg Boomers. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 EDT.
