TRAVERSE CITY, MI - The Traverse City Beach Bums(11-24) defeated the Washington Wild Things(19-16), 3-1, thanks to a couple of clutch hits in the late innings.

Washington got the offense started in the first inning when Jamal Austin hit a single to left. Ricky Rodriguez followed with a walk and Bryan Haar singled to load the bases with nobody out. Rodrigue led off the eighth with an infield hit, but Vargas then grounded into a double play. Will Kengor followed with a walk and moved to second on a wild pitch. Steven Patterson drove in an important insurance run with a single to left, scoring Patterson. In the top of the ninth, Washington got a man on via a hit-by-pitch but, Kyle Pollock lined out to short and the runner at first was doubled off to end the game.
