Washington Wild Things News Release

TRAVERSE CITY, MI.- The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Financial, fell to the Traverse City Beach 10-5 in a heartbreaker Wednesday at Wuerfel Park.

Washington had a 9-2 edge in the seventh inning, but they couldn't hold off the Traverse City bats in the seventh and eighth innings.

Washington scored early on a Luis Rivera RBI in the first inning. But the Beach Bums answered in the bottom of the first with a solo home run and another run in the second.

Washington's bats crept back to life in the fifth inning when Rivera belted a two run homer to the wall. Washington added another in the sixth.

Both Washington and Traverse City exploded offensively in the seventh inning. The Wild Things chalked up five runs and held a 9-2 lead, but The Beach Bums fought back scoring four runs in the seventh and four more in the eighth inning to grab and hold the lead.

Starting pitcher Gary Lee spent for 6.1 innings on the mound, allowing ten hits, five runs, one walk and one strike out. Davis Bilardello and Taylor Wulf combined for 1.2 innings. Wulf took the loss.
