Normal, Ill. - The Normal CornBelters tied the game at 3-3 in the eigth inning and pushed the game to the tenth before River City scored the go-ahead run on a Danny Sawyer single and added one more to take a 5-3 lead that Brandon Cunniff saved for his fourth this season.

River City (38-15) took a 1-0 lead in the first on a Joash Brodin sac-fly but the CornBelters (27-27) jumped ahead 2-1 in the fourth on an Asif Shah homerun off Josh Lowey, the only runs he would give up in 6 1/3 innings. Lowey struck out a season-high eight, allowing seven hits in the no decision.

The Rascals responded to the Shah homerun with a two-run shot from Stephen Holdren in the fifth, his 13th of the season, to take a 3-2 lead that would last until the eigth.

Brodin doubled with one out in the tenth and came home on the Sawyer single after Chad Maddox picked up his third hit of the game to move Brodin to third. Maddox would score on Eric Williams' two-out single for the final 0f 5-3.

The Rascals begin a three-game series against the Miners at T.R. Hughes Ballpark Thursday night with first pitch set for 7:05.
