MARION, IL - Cannon Lester hit a game-winning RBI double in the 12th inning as the Southern Illinois Miners edged the Gateway Grizzlies on Wednesday night at Rent One Park. The loss was the second in a row for Gateway, with both being one-run losses.

Southern Illinois (34-19) scored the first runs of the game with two in the first inning on two hits. Sean Coughlin drove in a run on a single and Ken Gregory recorded an RBI groundout.

Gateway (22-31) wasted no time getting the lead, responding with three runs on three hits in the second. After a Nick Farnsworth two-out walk, Brian Harris hit a two-run homer to left field. The homer for Harris was his first of the season and just his second in professional baseball. Chris Sedon followed with a triple and Kent Gerst drove him in with an RBI single.

The Grizzlies tacked on another run in the third. After leading off the inning with a double, Logan Parker scored on a Joe Agreste RBI groundout.

The Miners tied the game at four in the fourth inning, scoring two runs on three hits and one Gateway error.

Gateway got the lead right back in the fifth inning. DJ Fitzgerald singled to start the inning. He stole second and reached third on a long fly out to right field from Parker. Charlie Lisk then drove him in on a single, his league-best 55th RBI of the season.

With Gateway leading 5-4 in the ninth, Southern Illinois tied the game with a Coughlin sacrifice fly.

The Grizzlies begin a three game road series with the Florence Freedom on Thursday night in Florence, KY. Corey Davisson (2-3) gets the start for Gateway. First pitch is set for 6:05 CT.
