Washington, Pa - The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, continued to roll, as they topped the Florence Freedom 10-4 Sunday in Florence. The victory capped a three-game series sweep of the Freedom, and pushed their winning streak to eight games.
Washington improves to 19-10 on the season and if Evansville lost Sunday, the Wild Things would move into first place in the Frontier League East Division.
Eric Holt (2-0) earned the victory. He pitched six innings, gave up nine hits and four runs, two of which were earned. Ryan Hartzell picked up his first save the season by pitching three scoreless innings.
Washington scored two in the second inning to take an early lead. Florence retook the lead in the bottom of the inning, and held the advantage until Chad Kinyon's RBI double in the fifth inning. Washington would add three more in the seventh and on in the eighth to close the 10-4 victory.
Washington was led at the plate by Jack Headley. He went 2-5 and had three RBI which came on a bases clearing double in the seventh inning.
