Washington Wild Things News Release
The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, defeated the Windy City Thunderbolts 2-0 in Crestwood, IL Wednesday. The victory improves Washington's record to 3-4.
Kyle Werman scored in the third inning on a Pat Peavey RBI for the first Washington run, and later in the game Chris Sidick knocked in Jason Boyd for the team's second score.
RHP Cory Hahn (1-1) pitched an outstanding game, working more than eight innings, striking out five, walking two and allowing no runs. After a lead off walk in the ninth inning, manager John Massarelli pulled Hahn and sent LHP Corey Ohalek to the mound to complete the game.
Ohalek, who underwent Tommy Johns Surgery two years ago, earned his first save of the season, working two-thirds of the inning, allowing no hits, no walks, and striking out two.
The Thunderbolts host the Wild Things for the second of this three-game set Thursday when first pitch will be thrown at 8:05 p.m. Eastern time. Air time on WJPA 95.3 is 7:55 p.m.
The Wild Things return to Washington June 7th when they will host the Evansville Otters to a three game set. Tickets are available at the Falconi Field box office.
