Washington Wild Things News Release

The Washington Wild Things (60-27), presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, defeated the Richmond Roosters 10-4 at Don McBride Stadium in Richmond, IN Saturday.

The Wild Things inch closer to the record 62 single season win record they set last year with the victory. The team captured its second consecutive East Division title (third in four years) when Chillicothe lost.

The Roosters scored one run in the first inning and led the Wild Things until the third inning when Lance Koenig drove in David Reaver. T.J. Graves scored on an error, and Chris Carter drove in Koenig.

Richmond, however, answered in the bottom of the inning to recapture the lead 4-3.

The Wild Things came back to score three more in the sixth. Then in the seventh inning T. J. Graves tripled, driving in Andy Hudak and Reaver. In the ninth Chris Sidick tripled to drive in Ryan McGraw and Graves.

Three pitchers took the mound for the Wild Things. Starter Ryan Douglass allowed one (unearned) run on four hits and struck out one in his two innings of work. Mike Grady (3-2) got the win, allowing three runs on four hits, walking three, and striking out one in three innings. Corey O'Halek got his second save of the year pitching four scoreless innings, allowing two hits, and striking out three.

The East Division Champion Wild Things return to Falconi Field to host the Evansville Otters Sunday when first pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
