Windy City ThunderBolts News Release

Kalamazoo, MI - The first 2 batters for the ThunderBolts Saturday night against Kalamazoo reached base without putting the ball in play. After that, Jonathan Gutierrez induced a Jason Crosland groundout. The lefty starter didn't retire another hitter and the Bolts steamed to an 8-0 lead after 3. Windy City dropped the Kings 10-8 at Homer Stryker Field.

Justin Schuda punched a 3-run homer after the Crosland bouncer in the 1st inning to open the scoring. Matt Ferrara walked and Nate Whitney stroked a double with one out. Donnie Poles followed with a 2-run double. Tug Gillingham walked and Gutierrez exited. A Scott Vetter fielder's choice made the tally 6-0 after a frame. 10 ThunderBolt hitters came to the dish.

In the 3rd, Schuda struck again with a run-scoring single and Matt Ferrara piggybacked that with a sacrifice fly. In the 4th, Schuda added another dinger, a solo shot, to push the lead to 9-zilch. Saturday marked Schuda's 4th multi-homer contest of the season and his 2nd this week.

The Kings mounted a comeback in the middle innings with 5 runs in the 6th to send Josh Glynn off of the hill for the Bolts. 10 Kings approached the dish in the stanza. Glynn got the win with 5 innings and two-thirds of work. Glynn's 7-6 this season.

The lead shrank to 9-8 after a Tim Brown 2-run homer in the 7th inning. In the 8th, the Bolts added a tally as Tug Gillingham bunted Nate Whitney home from 3rd. Donnie Poles bunted Whitney to third and Poles reached as reliever Brian Beuning fell to the ground while fielding the ball.
