
Wild Falls to Rio Grande Valley 5-3

Rio Grande Valley has traveled to Wenatchee this weekend for the second and last series match up versus the Wild this season. Tonight marked the first game of this two game series and the Killer Bees went back to the locker room with a 5-3 win after 60 minutes of strenuous play. 2,670 fans packed the stands of the Town Toyota Center and cheered on the Wild throughout all 3 periods. These periods were executed with a great balance of talent and aggression. Team growth was very evident and to add to the list of pros, Troy Conzo was able to take home the 2nd Star of the Game following his two goals.
Troy Conzo struck first blood for Wenatchee when he scored 2 minutes into the first period. Assists on this goal went to David Powlowski and Tyler Rockwell. Rio Grande Valley scored one of their own at 8:46 when Kyle Stephan found the back of the Wild's net with help from Anthony Croston and Mason Van Tuyl.
Going into the second period, Conzo started off the scoring for this period as well with a goal at 6:22 and Powlowski was able to pick up another assist. Ivan Bondarenko scored to put Wenatchee up 3-1 at 13:40 into the middle period with help from Jake Ahlgren and Brendan Harris. Rio Grande's Parker Wood scored one for the Killer Bees at 14:32 with assistance from Dean Balsamo.
To start off the 3rd period, Parker Wood scored again at 2:12 to tie the game at three a piece. JB Baker took this assist. At 7:11, Kyle Stephan put the Bees up 4-3 with help from Wayland Williams. The last goal of the game was scored at 18:28 by JB Baker to seal the final score at 5-3. Parker Wood and Chris Deprez picked up the last points of the night with their assists.
Nine penalties were given to the Wild during this game and the team racked up 29 total penalty minutes. Infractions went to Anthony Mangano (Elbowing) (Roughing)x2, Colin Burston (Roughing) ((Double Minor)), Shane Bennett (Roughing ((Double Minor)), and Dakota Raabe (Fighting ((Major)), (Fighting ((Misconduct)). Wenatchee out shot the Killer Bees 27-24 with a record of 11-11-5 for the entire game. Rio Grande Valley had a 11-4-9 record to end the night.
Zach Quinn was in the net for 60 minutes and was able to stop 19 out of 24 shots.
Coach Little stated, "Disappointing 3rd period. Need to learn to finish games off."
