Wietecha, Stephens Named RoughRiders' Captains

Cedar Rapids, Iowa- The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders have named defensemen Evan Stephens and Scott Wietecha team captains and tabbed defenseman Brett Dickinson and forward Andy Miele as assistant captains, the RoughRiders announced today.

"Evan, Scott, Brett and Andy are all very deserving of this honor," said RoughRiders Coach and General Manager Mark Carlson. "Each of them has shown tremendous leadership qualities and work ethic in their time with the RoughRiders."

Wietecha, like the Riders' other three captains, is in his second season with the team. The 19-year old Wolverine Lake, Michigan, native has picked up one assist in three games this season while posting a plus/minus rating of +1. Wietecha scored one goal and totaled four points in his first season with Cedar Rapids.

Stephens, 18, is in his fourth season in the United States Hockey League. A product of Bessemer, Michigan, Stephens has scored one goal and collected three assists in four games this season. He scored four goals and notched 16 points in 54 games last year. Stephens joined the RoughRiders last season after spending two years with the Sioux Falls Stampede.

Miele, 18, has scored three goals and assisted on two others in four games this season after producing ten goals and 17 points last year. The Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan, native will begin his college career at Miami (Ohio) next season.

Dickinson, a 20-year old from Furlong, Pennsylvania, has scored one goal and recorded two assists in four games. Dickinson is also tied for the team lead in plus/minus rating (+4). He scored two goals and registered six points last year.

The RoughRiders (3-1-0, 6 points) defeated the Stampede 3-2 in Sioux Falls last night. The Riders meet the Tri-City Storm tonight at 7:05PM.

Tickets for all remaining RoughRider regular season home games- including tonight's- are now on sale. Tickets are available for purchase in person at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office, over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or on line at www.roughridershockey.com. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Ticket prices range from $7 to $17 in advance and from $8 to $18 on game days.
