
Storm Able To Rally Past Lancers, 4-3

The Lancers regained the scoring touch, but the Tri-City Storm found a way to rally in the third period and came from behind to defeat the Lancers, 4-3 on Friday, October 20th, before 2,395 fans at the Mid America Center.
Mark Olver opened the scoring for the Lancers in the first period, scoring a power play goal on a feed from Ryan Raven at the 4:24 mark for a 1-0 lead. The Lancers then took a 2-0 edge on a shorthanded tally from Jarmo Jokila, assisted by Matt Thurber, at 14:20 of the first period. However, Tri-City forward Matt Ambroz scored to make the first intermission score 2-1, Lancers after 20 minutes.
In the second period, Ambroz scored again, this time a power play goal at six seconds of the middle frame to tie the contest at 2-2. However, the Lancers answered with Nick Larson's first goal as a Lancer at 2:04, assisted by Jake Marto and Olver for a 3-2 Lancer lead.
Tri-City leveled the contest again, this time with a power play goal from Jesse Martin for a 3-3 score after forty minutes of play.
The deciding goal of the game came nearly seven minutes into the final period, when Calle Ridderwall scored for the Storm on the power play. The Lancers pulled goaltender Scott Gudmandson in the final minute for the sixth attacker, but were unable to make a couple of good scoring chances late in the game count, and the Storm came away with the win.
Tri-City out shot the Lancers 26-20 for the game, as the Lancers struck for 11 of the team's 20 shots on goal in the second period, and held the Storm to six shots in the final session.
Tri-City scored three times in 10 power play chances for the night, including 2-for-3 on the power in the second period. The Lancers scored twice on the power play in 12 opportunities, but scored only once in eight power play chances in the second period. Omaha took 12 penalties for 24 minutes, while Tri-City took 14 penalties for 28 minutes.
Ian Keserich took the win in net for Tri-City with a 17 save effort. Gudmandson made 22 saves in a losing effort for the Lancers.
The Lancers' shooting offense was led by Andrew Conboy's three shots on goal. Tri-City's Matt Ambroz took four shots on goal, scoring twice.
Omaha begins its first extended road trip with a visit to Waterloo on Saturday, October 21st for a 7 PM game.
