Wichita, KS (December 12th) - The Wichita Thunder of the Central Hockey League are very excited to be partnering with The Salvation Army this evening to show their support for community members in need by helping ring bells and Salvation Army kettles this evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at various locations around the city.

The Thunder players, dancers and even Thunder Dog will stand at red kettles at Walmart locations at 21st and Maize Road and Kellogg and Greenwich Road. The players will be happy to sign autographs for fans and help take in the holiday spirit to help those that are less fortunate.

"We thank the Wichita Thunder for supporting us at the red kettles this evening," commented Douglas Rowland, Major and Wichita City Commander with the Salvation Army. "Donations help us meet the immediate needs of families and individuals during the holidays and also fund programs all year long. Last year, the Salvation Army touched the lives of nearly 40,000 individuals in our community."

The Salvation prides themselves in helping people in the community. Nearly 30 million Americans receive assistance form The Salvation Army each year through the broadest array of social services that range from providing food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled and more.

Wichita has a pair of home games this weekend, beginning on Friday, December 14th when the Fort Worth Brahmas come to town.
