Edmonton Oil Kings News Release

WHL Champion Justin Sourdif made his NHL debut Monday evening, helping the Florida Panthers to a 4-3 win over the New Jersey Devils.

Sourdif, who won a WHL Championship as a member of the Edmonton Oil Kings in 2022, skated for 10:00 time on ice, adding three hits and one shot on goal in his first NHL game.

A product of Richmond, B.C., the 5-foot-11, 180-pound Sourdif was originally selected by the Panthers in the third round (87th overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft. He turned pro for the 2022-23 campaign, skating in 48 games with the AHL's Charlotte Checkers, registering 24 points (7G-17A).

Prior to graduating to the professional ranks, Sourdif started his WHL career as a member of the Vancouver Giants. Selected in the first round (third overall) in the 2017 WHL Draft, Sourdif spent more than three seasons with the Giants, including serving as captain to start the 2021-22 season. He was dealt to the Edmonton Oil Kings at the 2022 WHL Trade Deadline and went on to help the Oil Kings claim the Ed Chynoweth Cup.

Over 199 career WHL Regular Season games, Sourdif recorded 205 points (86G-119A). He added another 22 points (7G-15A) in 43 career WHL Playoff appearances.
