
Hurricanes Prospects to Compete at WHL Cup

LETHBRIDGE, AB - The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club announced Tuesday that prospects Dayne Beuker and Chase Petersen will compete for Team Saskatchewan at the 2023 WHL Cup in Red Deer, Alberta.
Beuker, 15, was selected by the Hurricanes in the first-round (14th overall) in the 2023 Western Hockey League Prospects Draft. The Humboldt, SK, product will represent Saskatchewan at the WHL Cup. This season, the 5 '10, 155-pound forward has collected seven points (4g-3a) in four games with the Saskatoon Blazers U18 AAA team. In 2022-2023, Beuker racked up a whopping 103 points (47g-56a) along with 10 penalty minutes with the Humboldt Broncos U15 AA team while adding 28 points (11g-17a) with four penalty minutes in nine post-season games.
Petersen, 15, was drafted by the 'Canes in the second-round (23rd overall) in the 2023 WHL Draft. The Mossbank, SK, product will also represent Team Saskatchewan at the WHL Cup tournament. The 6 '0, 181-pound forward has collected four goals in eight games so far this season with the Moose Jaw Warriors U18 AAA team. Last year, he recorded 69 points (27g-42a) with 26 penalty minutes in 29 regular season games with the Swift Current Broncos U15 AA team while adding 13 points (8g-5a) along with four penalty minutes in four playoff games. Petersen appeared in two pre-season games with the Hurricanes in September.
The 2023 WHL Cup showcases the top 2008-born players from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
All 22 players selected in the first round of the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft will compete at the event. The WHL Cup takes place at the Peavey Mart Centrium in Red Deer, AB, beginning Wednesday, October 18th until Sunday, October 22nd.

The Hurricanes open a two-game homestand on Wednesday when they welcome the Calgary Hitmen to the ENMAX Centre at 7:00pm before hosting the Red Deer Rebels on Friday at 7:00pm.
