WHL Rules on Blades/Pats Game

The Western Hockey League announced late on Monday evening that Blades GM/Head Coach Lorne Molleken has been suspended for 2 games while the hockey club has been fined $1,500 for its 5th multiple fight of the season.

On Saturday, January 27th, the Blades traveled to Regina in a penalty and fight filled game that saw a total of 253 penalty minutes issued, including a multiple fight scenario late in the 3rd period that included goaltender Braden Holtby and Linden Rowat which added on an additional $250 fine per team.

Molleken has already served one game and will serve the second and final game tonight when the team travels to Swift Current and will be available to return to the line-up on Wednesday night in Moose Jaw.

It was the 5th multiple fight situation of the season for both the Blades and Pats and the 3rd against each other in 2007/08.

The two teams will face off again on February 23rd at Credit Union Centre in the 7th and final meeting between these two rivals this season.
