
Helenius named ADT-CHL Co-Goaltender of the Week

Seattle, February 5, 2008 - Seattle Thunderbird goalie Riku Helenius was named the ADT-CHL Co-Goaltender of the week today.
Helenius stopped 27 of the 28 shots faced as the Thunderbirds downed the Prince Albert Raiders 3-1 on Wednesday, January 30, and he stopped all 22 shots that he faced as the Thunderbirds shut out the Portland Winter Hawks 4-0 on Saturday, February 2.
Helenius, a 19-year-old from Ilves-Tampere, Finland, has posted a 2.37 goals against average and .917 save percentage in 30 games as a WHL rookie. Since his last loss on January 18, Helenius has reeled off five consecutive victories in goal for the Thunderbirds, improving his record to 15-9-5-1. Helenius is a 2006 first round selection of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Thomas McCollum of the Guelph Storm shared the honor with Helenius. McCollum was 2-0-0-0 with a 0.50 goals against average and .987 save percentage in two games while Helenius was 2-0-0-0 with a 0.50 goals against average and .980 save percentage in two games.
The Thunderbirds next game is at home on Wednesday, February 6, at 7:05 p.m. when they face the Kamloops Blazers.
