Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings News Release

Harlingen - United League Baseball's Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings announced today that women in attendance at Thursday's 7:05 p.m. game at Harlingen Field will have a chance to win a one-karat diamond ring, courtesy of Alexandre's Fine Jewelry.

The ring will be buried in a box somewhere in the infield. At the conclusion of the game, all of the women ages 18 and older will be invited onto the field to search for the ring. Whoever finds it gets to keep it. Contestants are allowed to bring small gardening tools. Digging utensils will be supplied for those who need them.

"We hope that everyone will come either to find the ring or cheer on those who are digging. It should be a lot of fun," WhiteWings General Manager Cory Dirksen said.

It will also be Thirsty Thursday, meaning all fans ages 21 and up will be able to purchase $1 draft beers and $2 bottles.

Gates open at 6:05.

Tickets are still available and can be purchased online through etix, over the phone at 423-WING (9464), or at the Harlingen Field box office.

Additionally, fans can get free general admission tickets with the donation of four non-perishable food items to help the WhiteWings and Loaves and Fishes strikeout hunger in the Rio Grande Valley.

The WhiteWings are members of United League Baseball, an independent league of six professional baseball teams located in Texas. In its fourth season, the United League is in the midst of a great summer with teams located in Amarillo, Edinburg, Coastal Bend, Laredo, Harlingen and San Angelo.
