WhiteWings to Auction off Game-Worn Jerseys for Big Brothers-Big Sisters

HARLINGEN - The Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings announced on Wednesday that they will auction off their game-worn jerseys after Saturday's 7:05 p.m. game against the Edinburg Roadrunners at Harlingen Field with all proceeds going to the Harlingen-Cameron County office of Big Brothers-Big Sisters of South Texas.
The WhiteWings will be wearing special uniforms, courtesy of Local's Lounge. These Patriotic Red, White and Blue uniforms incorporate a United States Flag design celebrating our great nation.
"We're happy to be able to help out and we hope we'll get a large crowd help support the Big Brothers-Big Sisters program. They have a wonderful mission. We also want to thank Local's Lounge for providing the jerseys so we can contribute to the community," WhiteWings General Manager Cory Dirksen said.
"We all look forward to seeing all the wonderful citizens of Harlingen at this exciting event to ensure it will be a great success for all. We want to thank them in advance for their continued support," Locals Lounge owner Brian Heiskel said.
2011 marks the 4th straight year that Local's Lounge has sponsored charity jersey auctions at select WhiteWings games. These events have helped to raise over $10,000 for local charities that have included the VFW, Lower Rio Grande Valley Food Bank, Channel 5 News Teach the Children, the Humane Society of Harlingen and the Harlingen Boys and Girls Clubs.
Tickets start at $6 and can be purchased by calling the WhiteWings at 423-WING (9464), in-person at Harlingen Field or online at whitewingsbaseball.com. Gates open at 6:05 p.m.
