WhiteWings Snap Five-Game Losing Streak

HARLINGEN - The Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings snapped a five-game losing streak with a 10-3 win over the Amarillo Dillas Tuesday at Harlingen Field.

The WhiteWings (20-30) jumped on Richard Jessup (2-3) in the top of the first. Javis Diaz and Yeurys Tejeda walked to set-up one-out RBI-singles by Luany Sanchez and Welington Dotel to make it 2-0.

The Dillas (30-22) got on the board against Luis Montano (4-4) in the top of the third. Jermel Lomack drew a leadoff walk, stole second, moved to third when the throw went into centerfield, and scored on a wild pitch to make it 2-1.

Kevin Griffin led off the bottom of the third with an infield single. After moving to second on a wild pitch, Griffin scored when Dotel reached on a two-out error. Arlon Quiroz followed with his sixth home run to make it 5-1.

The Dillas got one back in the top of the fifth on a two-out RBI-double by Carlos Figueroa that made it 5-2.

The WhiteWings loaded the bases in the bottom of the fifth and Welinson Baez grounded into an RBI-fielder's choice to make it 6-2.

Sanchez led off the bottom of the seventh with a double against Earl Oakes, moved to third on a sacrifice fly and scored on a wild pitch to make it 7-2.

The Dillas loaded the bases with one out in the top of the eighth to set-up a Rob Recuenco sacrifice fly that made it 7-3.

In the bottom of the eighth, Tejeda hit a three-run home run, his fourth of the season, against Ramon Geronimo to complete the scoring.

The WhiteWings get Wednesday off before starting a stretch of 36 games in 33 days on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. against the Edinburg Roadrunners at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Right-hander Andres Rosales (3-3) is expected to face right-hander Wardell Starling (6-1).
