WhiteWings Bats Stymied by Dillas Pitching

Amarillo, TX - The Harlingen WhiteWings (15-27) mustered just six hits against Amarillo Dillas (26-14) pitching to fall 6-2 tonight at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa.

The Dillas struck with two outs in the third against Jorge Lugo (3-2) when Jonathan Reynoso, stole second and scored on a double by Keith Brachold.

In the bottom of the fourth, A.J. Johnson hit a one-out double, moved to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Andrew Wong to make it 2-0.

In the fifth, Justin Wenger led off with a single and Josh Ashton followed with an RBI-double. One out later, Brachold hit an RBI-single to make it 4-0.

The WhiteWings couldn't score against starter Ronald Lowe (2-0) who went five innings, striking out eight while allowing just four base runners.

Josh Smith came in for the sixth and gave up a leadoff triple to Brian Nichols who scored on a single by Argelis Nunez to make it 4-1.

The Dillas got that run right back in the bottom of the sixth against Brandon Kling as Danny Bravo led off with a single, stole second and scored on a two-out single by Stephen Douglas.

The Dillas loaded the bases with one out in the seven, allowing Bravo to hit a sacrifice fly to make it 6-1.

The WhiteWings completed the scoring in the ninth when David Fowler walked, stole second and scored on a out-out single by David Cardona.

Smith pitched the final four innings for his first save.

The WhiteWings return home to host the Edinburg Coyotes tomorrow night at 7:05. Right-hander Juan Jimenez (2-1) will face right-hander Clint Smith (0-1).
