Broncos offense explodes in big way

Laredo, TX-The Laredo Broncos got a great pitching performance and scored in 6 different innings as they were able to beat the Edinburg Coyotes at Edinburg Baseball Stadium by the score of 9-0 on Wednesday. The Broncos continue on their 6 game trip with the beginning of a 3 game series against the Alexandria Aces on Thursday night. For more information you can call (956)-723-BASE (2273).
The Broncos got on the scoreboard first in the top of the 2nd inning. Edgard Clemente led of the inning with a walk, and went to 2nd on a wild pitch by Coyotes starter Miguel Martinez. Clemente then went to 3rd on a ground out by Luany Sanchez. Matt Lawman would then come up and hit a sacrifice fly scoring Clemente and giving Laredo an early 1-0 lead.
The Broncos would tack on more runs in the top of the 3rd inning. With one Eric Padilla singled. Steven Wright would then come up and hit a rbi double scoring Padilla. Anthony Bennett would then walk. Dwayne then hit into a fielder's choice, forcing out Bennett at 2nd, but advancing Wright to 3rd. Then Edgard Clemente hit a double scoring both Wright and White. That would make the score 4-0.
Laredo would tack on another run in the top of the 4th. Matt Lawman led off the inning with a single. That was followed by a single by Ben Tinius. Then, Mark Perez hit a single scoring Lawman from 2nd. That would extend the Broncos lead to 5.
The Broncos would score for the 4th straight inning, in the top of the 5th. Dwayne White led off the inning with a triple and scored on a rbi groundout by Edgard Clemente. Luany Sanchez and Matt Lawman would then draw walks, which would chase Edinburg starter Miguel Martinez from the game. Isaac Daniels would come into the game and was greeted rudely by Ben Tinius who knocked in Sanchez with a single. That would make the score 7-0 Broncos.
The Broncos would tack on another run in the 6th. Steven Wright led off the inning with a walk. Then with one out Dwayne White walked, putting runners on 1st and 2nd. Edgard Clemente would then hit a rbi single, scoring Wright on the play. That would give Laredo a 8-0 lead.
That would be more than enough support for Broncos starter Andy Schon. Schon shut down a Coyotes offense thru 6 innings, that had scored 28 runs in the previous 2 games. Edinburg threatened to score in the bottom of the 8th with runners on the corners with 2 outs, but Schon got Logan Wood to strike out and end the threat. The Broncos still maintained their 8 run lead.
Laredo would tack on one more run in the top of the 9th on a solo home run by Ben Tinius, his 1st of the season. That would make the score 9-0.
Andy Schon would go for the complete game shut out. Schon would run into trouble in the inning as the bases were loaded with only 1 out. But, Schon was able to get Robert Matlock to fly out, and Daryl Jones to fly out, as the Broncos picked up the 9-0 victory.
Schon went the full 9 innings for the Broncos giving up 0 runs on 9 hits. He walked 3 batters and struck out 9. That is the first complete game and shutout for both Schon and the Broncos this season.
The Broncos scored 9 runs on 13 hits and committed 2 errors, while the Coyotes scored 0 runs on 9 hits and committed 1 error.
The Broncos improve their record to 21-21 on the season. The Broncos will be back in action on Thursday night when they play game 1 of a 3 game set against the Alexandria Aces at 7:05.
